Abstract
Introduction
Physical training has been widely studied as a strategy for blood pressure control in older adults, with particular emphasis on dynamic resistance training and its well-documented effects in the specialized literature.
Objective
To evaluate the effects of explosive dynamic resistance training on the blood pressure of older women. Materials and Methods: This experimental study was conducted using a convenience sample composed of 10 sedentary older women (66.8 ± 6.5 years; BMI: 30.99 ± 6.76 kg/m2). Blood pressure was measured using an Omron® digital sphygmomanometer. All measurements were performed according to the recommendations of the Seventh Brazilian Guideline on Arterial Hypertension. The volunteers underwent 12 weeks of dynamic resistance training, with a weekly frequency of three sessions. The program consisted of six resistance exercises performed with elastic bands and interspersed with squats. There were no rest intervals between sets and exercises.
