Abstract
Background
Postnatal urinary incontinence (UI) is a common pelvic floor disorder that may negatively affect women's physical and psychological well-being. Pelvic floor muscle training program (PFMT) is an effective conservative intervention; however, adherence to regular training remains a major challenge. Mobile health applications may provide continuous education, reminders, monitoring, and support to enhance adherence and improve postnatal urinary symptoms. The aim of the study was to evaluate the effect of a nurse-led mobile app-based pelvic floor muscle training intervention on knowledge , perceived stress, and training adherence among postnatal women with urinary incontinence, Method: A two-group quasi-experimental study with pre-test, post-test, and follow-up assessments was conducted among 72 postnatal women with urinary incontinence attending the outpatient clinics of the Urology Department at University Hospital and Shebin El-Kom Teaching Hospital, Menoufia Governorate, Egypt. The total sample was assigned into two groups 36 women for study and control groups equally). Data were collected using a structured questionnaire (Sociodemographic & Women’s knowledge about urinary incontinence and pelvic floor muscle exercise), the International Consultation on Incontinence Questionnaire-Urinary Incontinence Short Form (ICIQ-UI SF), the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS), and the Exercise Adherence Rating Scale (EARS). The intervention was implemented for eight weeks, followed by a four-week follow-up period.
