Mortality decline outpaced incidence decline for paralytic ileus and intestinal obstruction in Chinese children aged 0–14 years: a cross-sectional analysis of GBD 2023, 1990–2023, with projections to 2040

This project holds the derived data, analysis code, configuration and documentation for a secondary analysis of the publicly released Global Burden of Disease Study 2023 estimates. The study describes the burden of paralytic ileus and intestinal obstruction among children aged 0-14 years in China over 1990-2023, separates how often the condition occurs from what happens to children once it does, and projects the burden to 2040. Every input value comes from the IHME Global Health Data Exchange results tool; no individual-level data were used. The deposit contains six derived tables, the joinpoint and ARIMA outputs, the Python and R analysis scripts, the extraction parameters and the software versions.
