Résumé
Relevance: The World Health Organization recommends prolonged breastfeeding, often up to two years or longer. In Kazakhstan, cultural and family traditions support prolonged lactation. However, its potential association with maternal neurological and immunological changes remains insufficiently studied. The study aimed to describe the first documented cases of elevated serum antibodies against the N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor NR2 subunit (NR2-antibodies) in women with prolonged lactation and to analyze their associated clinical characteristics. Materials and Methods: Two women who had practiced prolonged breastfeeding for approximately two years underwent clinical evaluation, including assessment of neurological and psychological symptoms and laboratory measurement of NR2-antibodies of NMDA receptors.
