Résumé
Percheron syndrome is a rare cause of bilateral thalamic infarction due to occlusion of a variant of the posterior cerebral artery. The study therefore aimed to describe the clinical and radiological features and possible aetiological factors of Percheron syndrome in a young patient in the late postpartum period. A case report with clinical evaluation, computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging was used, involving an 18-year-old woman with caesarean section for pre-eclampsia and a recent subdermal contraceptive implant. She presented altered consciousness, seizure, vertical ophthalmoplegia, bilateral ptosis and left hemiparesis, with bilateral paramedian thalamic ischaemic lesions extending to the midbrain. It was concluded that this entity should be suspected in bilateral thalamic lesions and that the puerperium may constitute a thrombotic risk context.
