Résumé
Emergency department crowding prolongs waiting times and worsens outcomes in time-dependent conditions. The study therefore aimed to analyse the evidence on the impact of artificial intelligence on reducing critical times and on the operational efficiency of emergency departments. A PRISMA 2020-guided systematic review was conducted, with a sample of 7 studies out of 55 records. AI-based resource allocation reduced waiting times by 7 to 43.2 minutes in simulations; triage models outperformed traditional scales with areas under the curve above 0.80; and the evidence was predominantly retrospective and single-centre, without measurement of the impact on mortality. It was concluded that prospective multicentre implementation studies are needed.
