Résumé
Abstract Background Stroke is a leading cause of death, with hypertension significantly increasing mortality risk. However, studies on time to death and its predictors among hypertensive stroke patients are scarce in Ethiopia. This study aimed to assess the time to death and its predictors among h stroke patients with hypertension admitted at public hospitals in the Amhara region, 2023.
Methods
A retrospective cohort study was conducted among stroke patients with hypertension admitted to selected public hospitals in the Amhara region, Ethiopia. Data were collected using a structured checklist, entered into EPI Data 4.2, and analyzed with STATA 16. The proportional hazards assumption was checked, and model fitness was assessed using Cox–Snell residuals (p > 0.05). Variables with p < 0.25 in bi-variable analysis were included in the multivariable Cox regression to control for confounders, and predictors of time to death were identified in the final model using adjusted hazard ratios (AHR) with p < 0.05.
