Keeping the Core, Adapting the Periphery: Structured Comparative Review of the Transfer of a Group Singing Intervention for Postnatal Depression from the United Kingdom to Denmark, Romania, and Italy

Background

A ten-week group singing programme for mothers with symptoms of postnatal depression (PND) has been evaluated in two randomised controlled trials in the United Kingdom. Under the coordination of the World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Office for Europe, it was subsequently implemented in Denmark, Romania, and Italy. It is unclear which components of the programme transferred unchanged, which were adapted, and how strong the underlying evidence is.
