Abstract
Introduction
Iron deficiency (ID) is a common condition in patients with heart failure (HF), occurring independently of the presence of anemia and being associated with reduced functional capacity, impaired quality of life, and poorer clinical outcomes. Its high prevalence, particularly among patients with acute decompensated HF, highlights its relevance as a comorbidity associated with increased rates of hospitalization and mortality. Despite its clinical impact, ID remains underdiagnosed and undertreated due to limitations related to disease recognition, access to treatment, costs, and the availability of intravenous therapies.
