Abstract
Ectopic pancreatic tissue by definition means pancreatic tissue which is anatomically separate from the main pancreatic gland and has no ductal or vascular connections to the main pancreatic gland. Though it is increasingly common in the gastrointestinal tract, it is extremely rare in the mediastinal location. Even though it is reported to be seen in 0.25%–2% of the population, mediastinal ectopic pancreatic tissue is exceedingly rare, with fewer than 30 reported cases in the literature. Hereby, we present a case of 21-year-old female who presented with complaints of cough and chest pain, incidentally found anterior mediastinal mass in imaging during workup. Histopathology showed the presence of pancreatic tissue coexistent with mediastinal cyst.
