Abstract
Background
To study the demographic profile of adults with epilepsy and established the correlations between the various types of epilepsy, as well as cognitive impairment. Material and Methods: A total of 188 adults with epilepsy provided written informed consent and were informed. The demographic questionnaire collected the participants in terms of age, gender, work, smoking/alcohol consumption, food habits, epilepsy history, and medications (current and past). Cognitive performance was assessed using the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA). Individuals with severe structural brain injury, major psychiatric disorders (e.g., schizophrenia), progressive central nervous system diseases (e.g., Parkinson’s disease), psychogenic non epileptic seizures, and pregnant women were excluded.
